‘Every child counts, every moment matters’

Art and Design

At Britannia we teach all of our art and design lessons in block units to allow the children to become fully immersed in their learning and the units they are studying. Please see below for our policy, overview and progression documents. To promote a love of art and design in our school, we have our very own art gallery. Each half-term, children’s artwork is selected by their teachers whilst members of staff vote for a Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 winner. Their artwork is printed on a canvas and displayed in our gallery with a special plaque to celebrate their work. See below for the latest winners of our artist of the term award. This work will join the rest of the wonderful pieces in our school gallery.

In the past, we have worked with clay artist, Andrew Hill, to create some clay pieces of artwork. The children were very excited about being given the chance to take these home and share their incredible creations with their families. We have also worked with the amazing artist Hugh Templeton this year. He worked with each class to create different pieces of art work using watercolour paints.
