Welcome

Welcome to Year 1! Your teachers are Miss Rothwell and Mrs Pacey and we have and amazing teaching assistant called Mrs Wright!

In Year 1 we work very hard and learn about lots of exciting things. Below is our yearly overview so you can see what types of things we will be learning about this year.

Autumn Term

Our topic this half term is The Great Fire of London and we have already learnt so much about this historical event. Ask us about some of the facts and we will be able to tell you all about it as we have been rehearsing our sticky knowledge. Look out for pictures from our 'Alfresco Learning' workshop.

We will be having house meetings soon and even launching our bees for 'Bee Day'.

P.E

P.E days are Tuesday and Wednesday. On these days your child will need to come into school wearing their P.E kit. They need black shorts/tracksuit pants and a white t-shirt or our school P.E kit. Tuesday and Wednesday are the only days where trainers/pumps should be worn. On all other days, your child must be wearing black school shoes, not trainers. If your child wears earrings, please ensure these are removed for P.E days or send plasters if they are unable to be removed.

Milk, fruit and toast

Toast is available for break times. If you wish for your child to have toast, please pay on parent pay. If your child does not have toast please send them in with a piece of fruit.

Milk is available for afternoon snack time and needs to be paid for using 'Cool Milk'. Please contact the school office for further information on this. In the afternoon, we also have a piece of fruit which is provided by school.

Water bottles

Please send your child in to school with a named water bottle for them to drink throughout the day. This must contain water and not juice. Juice can be in lunchtime bottles. Water bottles are kept at the back of our classroom and can be accessed all day.
