‘Every child counts, every moment matters’

Reception's week!

Date: 4th Nov 2020 @ 1:39pm

Welcome back after half term!

I have loved seeing all of the home learning that you have been doing. You definitely have been very busy!

Parents - this week we have been learning the story 'Bat Learns to Dance'. This is all about a little bat who is too cold and so sets off to see if her friends can help her. She meets ladybird who teaches her to 'flap, flap, flap, flappity, flap!'. Then she meets bunny rabbit how teaches her to 'hop, hop, hop, hoppity, hop' before finally meeting worm who teaches her to 'wriggle, wriggle, wriggle'! Little bat is then nice and warm and goes home to mummy, shows her all her new dance moves and then falls asleep.

Your child will be able to do the actions as well as sing the little song that goes with each animal.

In maths we have been looking at counting accurately and looking at how many legs different animals have! We have also been solving problems by finding the rule, for example, you can only put animals in here who have 4 legs, or 2 legs or 0 legs!

We have also been reading a story called 'Lucy's Blue Day' which is all about a little girl and her feelings. Her hair changes colour to reflect what she is feeling that day. For example, when her hair is golden yellow she is feeling happy. When it is red she is feeling angry. And when it is blue she is feeling sad. We have reiterated to the children that it is ok to have all of these different feelings and that we, as well as grown ups at home, are always there to talk to them about how they feel. We will be using this book a lot this half term :)
