Reception's Week

We are learning all about the book 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers. The week started with various objects being stuck around the classroom. Today we received a parcel from a little boy, who gave it to Miss Rickerby for us! We opened it and it was the book Stuck. We had lots of ideas for how to get everything down and one of them was to write to the local firefighters to see if they can help us! We have written a class letter and the children have tried to do their own. For the majority of the class we are still working on mark making and only making a few recognisable sounds.

We are doing phonics lessons each day. So far we have learnt the sounds: m a s d t i p

In maths we are learning how to count to 10 and know that each number represents an amount. Some of us are finding it a little tricky to show numbers in different ways, for example, show me 5 fingers, show me 5 counters, jump 5 times. Please can you carry on doing activities like these at home?

We are also learning all about celebrations in Religious Education. I will post photos soon!
